CSS Styles in WYGWAM 2.0

Brandon Kelly has released WYGWAM 2.0 for both ExpressionEngine 1.68 and ExpressionEngine 2.  How exciting!  WYGWAM 2.0 comes with a new CKEditor skin as well as an interface to deal with those configuration options you had to dig around for before.  The configuration options are now in a drop-down menu area where you choose your custom field type rather than adding on special tags to the default configuration file.  Previously on this site I had an article on how to get them working in WYGWAM 1.1.5 and in this article it will be about how to do the same thing in WYGWAM 2.0 using ExpressionEngine 1.68.

About The Downloads

For a while there has been a issue plaguing this site and it comes down to automatic downloading of screencasts after purchase.  What I'd like to have happen is that after purchasing a screencast you'd receive an e-mail from me that simply served as a receipt.  Well, that doesn't seem to want to happen with my hosting, but I feel my situation is unique. Updated!

CSS Styles in CKEditor

One of my biggest pet peeves about using CKEditor was that I couldn't figure out how to add CSS styles to the styles combo-box.  No matter how many different ways I added code snippets to the config file, it wouldn't budge and so I decided to blog about it for those people who are stuck.  It all started with the purchase of the WYGWAM Expression Engine Fieldframe extension from Brandon Kelly that turned my text editing dreams into a reality.  Not only do I have a beautiful WYSIWYG editor, but also a nice interface that was greatly missing from Expression Engine.  So without further ado here's how to add CSS styles to the styles combo-box in CKEditor for use with the WYGWAM Fieldframe extension.

Choosing The Right CMS

Choosing The Right CMS

One of the biggest challenges as a web designer can be choosing the right CMS or Content Management System.  A content management system is like the veins of a website and it's important to be ready for anything the Internet can throw at it.  When I first started building this website, I explored a few content management systems that had quite a long but distinguished list of features and while some were not so easy to implement others were just too simple.  So, how do you choose the right one?

What To Do About IE6 Bugs?

What To Do About IE6 Bugs?

Internet Explorer 6 was released back in August of 2001 and at the time it had the best CSS support of any browser, but now eight years later little bugs in it's CSS support haunt every web designer to this day.  The general consensus these days is to abandon IE6 support, but I still feel it is important to make things look right whenever possible.  Below is a list of the major bugs in IE6 that I've come across and more importantly help better define the bugs for people who have just heard the phrase "if ::insert client name:: just didn't use Internet Explorer. Ugh!"

Recently added to my portfolio has been the website redesign for BarbaraWrightDesign.com.  Barbara Wright is an optometry office design expert located in Portland, OR.  She contacted me to update her existing website, but we ended up going with a totally new design using ExpressionEngine and a few other goodies.

Two New Website Concepts

Two New Website Concepts

It's been ages since my last post and to be honest I haven't been in the mood to write up a blog about really anything. I've been strongly focusing on my work and taking a much needed time-out from the screen-casting and tutorials that I really enjoy doing. The more and more I got into it I began to better respect those who do this for a living. With all the complaints and all the arrogant critics out there (you know who you are), props goes out to anyone who does these and lives to tell about it.
